Can Plasma Pen be used to treat all skin types?
A. No, Plasma Pen isn’t suitable for all skin types. Your therapist will be able to confirm if your skin is suitable for treatment and if it’s not, they will recommend an alternative anti-ageing treatment programme.
A Plasma Pen treatment can vary in time depending on the size of the area being treated. As an example, an upper eye treatment to reduce sagging eyelids would take around 40-minutes.
The number of treatments required also varies depending on the condition of the skin and the area being treated. We usually see impressive results are 1 - 2 treatments. If you require multiple treatments they would need to be spaced at least 8 weeks apart.

This groundbreaking treatment works by converting electrical energy into electrostatic energy, which is in turn transmitted to the pen’s probe by impulse. Plasma comprises ionised gases that are charged with equal amounts of negative and positive charged ions, as well as negative charged electrons. Plasma is formed through these ionisations of positive and negative gases when it hits the atmosphere. At the right distance from the skin, the energy ionises the oxygen, combines with the nitrogen in the air, and creates a small electrical Plasma arc or flash.
When the Plasma arc or plasma flash hits the skin, it vaporises any liquid in the skin at the point of contact. The surrounding skin then contracts into the area and instantly tightens. This clever shrinking and lifting effect is called ‘sublimation’. Even though the skin layers are vaporised by the Plasma, they do not burn off, they just flake off as part of the post-treatment healing process.
Held approx 1 mm from the skin, the Plasma Elite II uses state of the art technology to deliver a stable plasma arc from the pen to the skin. This safe, non-invasive treatment cuts out if the pen itself touches the skin, eliminating any risk for both clients and therapists.
The Plasma Elite II Pen uses one of the finest probes on the market (0.44 size tip) enabling incredible accuracy. It is a cordless and wirelessly charged device adding to its flexibility. The Plasma Elite II Pen also includes a 360 light ensuring the therapist has the best view during your entire treatment.
The Plasma Pen is an FDA approved and CE approved device used to perform fibroblast therapy. We also love that the Plasma Elite II Pen is manufactured here in Great Britain.
Pre & Post Treatment Care
During your treatment consultation your therapist will provide bespoke pre- and post-treatment guidance, depending on the area being treated with the Plasma Pen. We have outlined below some of the guidance you may be given:
Pre-Treatment Care
Avoid any natural or fake tanning for 4 weeks prior to your Plasma Pen treatment
Use SPF50 on the area to be treated for 4 weeks prior to treatment
Avoid any other skincare treatments on the same area for 4 weeks prior to treatment
Avoid smoking and consuming alcohol prior to your treatment
Post-Treatment Care (while the skin shows scabs)
Tiny scabs will appear after treatment, DO NOT pick at the scabs - this can delay the healing process and cause scarring
Cleanse your skin morning and night using a gentle cleanser to remove excess oil and pat dry with a clean cloth or towel
DO NOT exfoliate the treated area
Use recommended post-treatment products such as serums and moisturisers to keep the area well hydrated - these will not include any harmful perfumes or harsh chemicals
If you have had a treatment around the eye area, avoid wearing contact lenses for 3 days post-treatment
Post-Treatment Care (once the scabs have naturally fallen off)
Continue to apply an SPF50 for at least 3 months following your Plasma Pen treatment
Avoid excessive heat, such as saunas, and sun or sunbed exposure for 3 months following treatment.
Avoid all other surgical or invasive treatments to the area for at least 3 months post-treatment
