Microdermabrasion is carried out by our highly qualified therapists, using their expertise to deliver a treatment that is tailored to your skin. Treatment usually lasts around 30 – 40 minutes and multiple treatments may be required to achieve optimal results. We recommend your appointments are spaced 2 -4 weeks apart.
Microdermabrasion is an ideal treatment to form part of your regular skin care regime and we recommend monthly treatments to maintain the best results. Results are visible after just 1 session but can be improved with multiple treatments. We can also add a resurfacer to the treatment to further enhance resutls.
Contraindications
There are certain contraindications that exclude certain clients from receiving a Microdermabrasion treatment. These include:
Skin cancer
Active acne
Sunburn
Eczema
Dermatitis
Infections such as herpes or warts
Uncontrolled diabetes
Rosacea
Acutane users (within 12 months of treatment)
Hypertrophic scarring or keloid formation (or family history of)
Telangiectasia/erythema (could cause symptoms to become worse)
Vascular lesions
Oral blood thinning medication (such as Warfarin)
Pregnancy or lactating clients.
It is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding either.
Science & Technology
Fine aluminium oxide crystals and a vacuum are used to achieve deeply exfoliating results. The waste material that is vacuumed from the skin is kept separate from the fresh crystals and is passed into the waste unit, which is fitted with a valve, so no backward flow of crystal is possible.
